Last week I participated in an event called The Awakening Conscious Leadership Experience facilitated by the X-Change organization, led by Jon Berghoff.

I was compelled to participate to assist in enhancing my Conscious Health Aging membership program.

I was glad I engaged with the program and thought you may appreciate hearing something about it.

One of the topics touched was that of “Appreciative Inquiry.”

Here is a brief description as defined by The Center of Appreciative Inquiry.

“Appreciative Inquiry (AI) was developed to help transform organizations; however, it is equally transformative in individuals. AI is not just about asking positive questions; it is also about learning to see the world with fresh eyes. Appreciative Inquiry does not ignore negative feelings or circumstances but helps to shift our perspective from despair and frustration to one of possibility and opportunity. Uncovering and celebrating what is right with others, and anything that may arise in our lives, is a mental habit that can be learned through deliberate, mindful practice.”

Here are essences of principles of Appreciative Inquiry as outlined by the X-Change organization:

“We jointly construct our social realities through our shared conversations, and then our social reality influences the way we talk.

When we change the way, we talk together along with the questions we ask, we are able to change the present reality.

Words create worlds.

There are many perspectives, multiple ways of knowing and understanding.

How we understand a situation or a person and what story we tell about it affects everything.

You have a choice in how you see things.”

I hope this has opened some realizations for you as it has for me. If it has let me know. I would be glad to hear your thoughts.
