As a Stoic philosopher, Marcus Aurelius believed in the power of self-discipline to improve each human life and wrote often about the practice of holding himself to greater standards.
“At dawn, when you have trouble getting out of bed, tell yourself: “I have to go to work-as a human being. What do I have to complain of, if I’m going to do what I was born for? Or is this what I was created for…to huddle under the blankets and stay warm?
Don’t you see the plants, the birds, the ants and spiders and bees going about their individual tasks, putting the world in order, as best they can? Why aren’t you running to do what nature demands?”
In the words of Aurelius., we can see that our work and the pursuit of our goals are ways to fulfill our place in nature, OUR PURPOSE. We came here to “put the world in order,” as best we can. And when we are immersed in such work we come to know something of greater fulfillment for our individual selves and even more so for the world we share.

I had something of an epiphany after having cancer: It was a realization that I had a second chance at LIFE and it affirmed that I should not wait to act on creative urges that I knew I needed to pursue.
I have asked myself multiple times since then “WHY WAIT?”
