In these early days of 2023, it’s a good time to consider our worlds individually and as a collective.
Winter is a time of conception and sets the tone for the rest of the year. It leads into Spring, which is a time of birth, followed by Summer which is a time of growth, and finally, the Fall or harvest of what’s been sown. The Wintertime helps to set things in motion for continued growth during the yearly cycle.
Each day brings us new opportunities to hone our expression.
On that note I’d like to share a story that a friend of mine, Linda, relayed about her recent experience at a hair salon. She said a few weeks before Christmas while she was waiting in the reception area, one of the employees at the salon gave her a Christmas card which she immediately opened. The outside of the card read simply, “Wishing You Joy.” The personal message began with these words: “Thank you so much for your kindness, you are always a ray of sunshine!”
Linda was deeply moved by her words, especially since they didn’t interact directly because she was not her hairstylist. She thanked her for her touching words. The hairstylist opened up about her observation that whenever Linda came in, she greeted each person by their name and always expressed a cheerful attitude. She also commented on how a simple smile seems to be so rare these days. Linda noted that when we live in the sunshine, our rays have enormous impact through the simplest of gestures.
What a great example of how we can influence our worlds!
