I believe that our cognitive abilities, no matter our age, can be nurtured and enhanced.
The statistics may seem daunting – 1 in 9 people aged 65 and older has Alzheimer’s.
But I’ve seen firsthand that individuals with dementia are capable of so much more than we give them credit for. They have emotions, relationships, tasks to accomplish, and lives to live.
This understanding led me to an important realization. We must be cautious of the concepts we hold about ‘old people’ and even the young.
Ageism is an attitude that we primarily inflict on ourselves. But I ask you, do we think that aging can be avoided merely by avoiding and denying it?
I invite you to join in the CHA-Well-Being Circle by today so you can be present for our session tomorrow October 19th at 7:30 PM EST to know more about cognitive well-being for yourself as well as those you know with compromised mental abilities.
